Demerits of Deforestation

The trees were talking “Everybody knows the demerits of deforestation.
the laws should be strict we must talk to the legislation”

Earlier the loggers used axes and saws,
but now they use explosives, breaking the laws.

“Its effective and fast” said the logger’s leader
“We achieve our objective, earlier the better”

“we must do something by ourselves” said the braver one
rest of the trees disagreed “we are trees, can do nothing, can’t even run”

Nobody listened. He was the one standing last
Blast after blast, only regreting on what happened in past.

and atlast his time came too, he was too old to resist now
it would have been different if they all would’ve acted. but how?

On the way

“Reaching the top is tough, but look at the other side,

I know a shortcut, I’ll show you.” Said the guide.

“It will be a few rupees that I would charge,

But the returns you’ll get would be large”

I agreed and we sealed the deal.

I followed him with an intense zeal.

 “You must think of your own interest”

He told “and forget about the rest.”

 

On the way

Boom…a bird was hit in the sky

It came down, fighting, trying to fly

The bullet took the other leaving only one wing

He said “leave it, it’s a regular thing.

It happens every time, every day of the year.

We have to reach the top and we are nowhere near.”

We left the bird lying there, crying in pain

 “forget it, ‘t was just a bird not a man.”

He continued “if ‘ts others you must ignore.

As we go ahead you will learn more.”

Boom…something was hit near my head.

This time it was’nt a bird, my guide was dead.
